Cuba’s Contemporary Dance Company (DCC) will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a season of works by native choreographers and a piece by British Fleur Darkin.
The performances will be held on February 28, 29 and March 1, 6, 7 and 8, at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater in Havana.
According to a statement from the mother company of contemporary dance on this island, in the first week there will be performances of “La Ecuacion” (Equation) and “Mambo 3XXI,” by George Cespedes; “Cenit” (Zenith), by Laura Domingo, and “Coil,” by Julio Cesar Iglesias.
Meanwhile, the program of the second week will exhibit – together with “Coil” and “Mambo 3XXI” – “Equilux,” by the British Darkin, artistic director of the Scottish Dance Theater.
The artist conceived this piece in 2017 especially for DCC thanks to the Creative Islands project, promoted by the British Council.
