The daughter of Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara, Aleida Guevara, is Thursday participating in the province of Cordoba in the 6th Medical-Cultural Brigade that bears her father»s name, organized by the A Better World is Possible (UMMEP) foundation.
As she has been doing for several years, Dr. Aleida, a pediatrics specialist, takes her solidarity to several remote corners of the country, and on this occasion she will visit the rural areas of Pocho, San Alberto and San Javier, together with other doctors.
Guevara’s visit is part of the work carried out by the UMMEP foundation together with other projects such as Operation Miracle and the Cordoba Farmers’ Movement (MCC).
As part of her intense program, yesterday Dr. Aleida gave an open talk entitled ‘Health in our nations,’ together with the UMMEP presidency, Claudia Camba, and Guido Corvalan, of the Farmers’ Movement of Santiago del Estero.
This day the doctor participated in an activity with children from the neighborhoods near the Ernesto Che Guevara Eye Clinic in Córdoba, where thousands of surgeries have been performed free of charge since its creation in 2009, which was also attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Argentina, Orestes Perez.
Participating in the sixth edition of the Medical Brigade are health experts from the Landless Movement of Brazil, graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), students and teachers from the National University of Cordoba, and more than 30 doctors from different specialties and community health promoters.
