As Close as Ever
Today the fervent profet of dawn continues to be present in the of dignity every man and woman of the homeland

By: Rosa Pérez López
A year ago we received the news we never wanted to hear. And then there was a heartbreaking shiver in the soul of the dismayed motherland, an ineffable sorrow multiplied in every grateful Cuban’s chest, a renewed commitment with the legacy of the man who devotes his life to the humble and to the whole mankind.
How to understand from that November 25 the absence of Fidel at the front line of all the risks; in the high stands to defend the most sacred principles; or on the street, valleys or mountains where he became flesh and spirit of the people: of his people. How to suppose it in the infinite distance that immortality holds for those who are indispensable, those who have well accomplished the work of life.
For that reason neither the absence, nor the distance, nor the death incapable to encompass the stature of everlasting warrior are true, from the precursor Moncada attack to the final and visionary verb that warned about the dangers these times bring to the future, in a Party congress.
Today the fervent prophet of dawn remains in the smile of every child, in the safety of every elder, in the salvation of every sick person, in the sweat of each worker, in the creation of each artist, in the dignity of every man and woman of our country. He is still in the courage to defend our conquests, in the strength to face new challenges and in the sublime commitment with which we forge hope every day.
Today, endless inspiration and teaching, Fidel remains at our side, as close as ever.
