Women’s Engravings
In many social and cultural spaces there are works that group the women’s work as a banner from a personal perspective

Gender-based discussions are one of the most representative issues on the agenda of social organizations around the world. The artistic creation of women in is always an invitation.
That was probably the premise for the Cuban women graphic show (second edition), at the Experimental Workshop of Engraving in Havana. This gallery-workshop, is one of the drivers of the Cuban engraving movement and referent for its study in Cuba.
One of the values of this sample lies in the thematic and technical variety, as the artists show in the diversity of creative interests.
By Yamilys Brito Jorge are the works Herbal bath, Cold water bath, Sea bath, Turkish bath and Singing in the shower, which are part of the In the bathroom series. Where she reviews part of the cultural and historical references and probes in a perspective, which shows the image inside a space considered to be intimate.
Among the artists included is Jaqueline Brito Jorge, who has carved out a career as an engraver, graduated from ISA in that specialty and in the exhibition she is integrated with the series Machinery for dreaming, composed of four pieces.
By Miriannys Montes de Oca is the graphic poetics in the works Human nature and Life. While Maria Consuelo Mendoza features Dominator Aheiah and Dominator Reüell.
Dania Fleites Diaz is the one who contributed the most to the women’s discourse in the exhibition. With pieces like Babel, it gives meaning to one of the myths of history. Other works focused on sexuality from the representation of objects that take the form of the male and female sexual organs. For its elaboration it appealed to terms of the common speech like the sperm that is generated with the lit candle.
Ketty Diaz is integrated in the exhibition with Hanks and an S / T piece.
Irina Cepero, with Sons of Eve, where it mixes with the history of the first sinful woman, and one of the causes of the original sin. This appeal removes the foundation of history.
Other creators are Isolina Limonta, Diana Balboa and Patssy Higuchi, who recognized her attracttion to the possibilities of each technique, whether painting, engraving, ceramics or photography, while unveiling the keys that underpin her creative work.
This exhibition is representative of the women’s work in the field of Cuban graphic.
