Sensemayá Publisher is Born

A needed bridge for the cultural enrichment of our idiosyncrasy

Spreading the legacy of the Nicolás Guillen’s artistic thinking as expression of his contributions to the national culture is one of the reasons for which a new Cuban publisher has come into existence.

Born out of the Afrocuban voices and rhythms, Sensamayá is also a gateway to African-related research and its impact on our culture.

Its birth took place with the release of Presencia negra in the Cuban culture, a delightful anthology with texts compiled by Dr. Denia García Ronda through which Nicolás Guillén Foundation wanted to commemorate its 25 years of creation.

The volume collected by the brand-new publisher is the result of a careful compilation of some of the most relevant texts presented in the Universidad para Todos TV program; and representing the influence of the African legacy on our society, social psychology and in general, its artistic and literary creation.

Credited researcher Denia García Ronda emphasized the importance of this publication wich will contribute to a better quality in the spreading of Nicolás Guillen’s work and thinking, while it will allow an open and fluent dialogue with the contemporary vision on these atractive topics.

Future publications from the same publisher are announced with the spreading of the collection of poems by the outstanding writer in independent sections according to their thematic profiles, a way to explore his literature with greater space and diversity.
