The army of journalists of the capital for several days received the homage of the Havana authorities

City authorities paid tribute during the last few days to Habana media workers, apropos of March 14, Day of the Cuban Press

Mercedes López Acea, vice president of the Council of State, Politburo member and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the capital, led the recognition that began at the monument erected to Celia in Lenin Park, southeast of the province.

On the occasion of March 14, Day of the Cuban Press, workers from local media toured works of economic and social interest as well as the newly opened Alicia Alonso Gran Teatro de La Habana, which has received an ambitious investment, returning all its former splendour to the ancient building built in 1837 and was then known as Gran Teatro Tacon.

Another of the sites visited was the ARTEX Cultural Complex En Guayabera, located in zone 10 of Alamar, municipality of Habana del Este. An ample space designed for family recreation with cinemas, amusement park, cafes and shops which sell handicrafts.

They also learned details of the development of the Scientific Centre, from an exchange with the protagonists of the main achievements in obtaining drugs of the latest generation.

At various times of the tours, Mercedes Lopez explained that the purpose of this program was to educate the journalists and media workers, of the progress in different sectors, but also for the people to talk with the journalists.

She also said that those who received the visitors did so with pride and see them as responsible citizens reflecting the daily tasks, for the country to be every day a little better, the economy and advancing the revolution consolidated.

López Acea, said that in fact the recognition of reporters on their day is also a tribute to the people, who are the true protagonist of the work reflected in the media.

It also recognized the prestige gained by Canal Havana, the newspaper Tribuna de la Havana and broadcasters Radio Havana, Radio Cadena Habana, Metropolitan Radio and COCO.

Radio journalists Milagro Cherta and Francisco Delgado were especially distinguished during these days, deserving awards for lifework and annual of the guild, respectively.
