Even the instinct of survival lives in art. Basic needs of man forced him to find objects of practical value to make life easier for the individual and in that fusion art has sprung up many times.
Craftwork is nowadays considered a minor or applied artistic feature, but this does not stop the amazement and commotion arising from us in front of a piece of fine workmanship. The possibility of being captivated by the work of a goldsmith or a ceramist comes to us with special emphasis in December. The International Crafts Fair FIART 2015 will take place in Havana until the 20th of this month.
As in previous years the central venue is the PABEXPO fairground in Playa municipality. Now Matanzas and the artists of the eastern region will be paid tribute. Here the works from Cuban and foreign creators will be displayed. Among the countries represented will be Spain and China.
The prizes of the National Competition of Pottery will be awarded within the Fair precincts. The Fair will see the presentation of musical groups and soloists like Habana Compás, Miguel Failde Orchestra and Tony Ávila. In addition the Teatro de las Estaciones Company directed by Rubén Darío Salazar is also in the program of activities.
